Choosing a Licensed General Contractor when doing any remodeling project
BHB Remodel and Renovation encourages you to always use a qualified General Remodeling Contractor

It is most important for homeowners to work with qualified and licensed contractor, typically for most projects you will need one or more sub-contractors to complete the job: A typical Bathroom Remodel would need an electrical, plumbing, carpentry(framing or finishing), flooring, drywall, paint, tile setting, countertops for most projects OR you can engage a General Remodeling Contractor who typically works with a team of sub-contractors all have been selected because of like business values and work as a team to deliver the highest quality services for the TEAM. BHB has several licenses that permits them to manage and deliver residential and small commercial projects. They have vented a group of sub-contractors; many have worked with the BHB Remodel & Renovation Team for over ten years. Each is a specialist in their trade and always delivers the highest quality of workmanship.
Whether you are wanting to update your Master Bathroom or Kitchen it is important to know the BHB Team is not going to cut corners or take short cuts – we will follow the local code requirements and always select the highest quality materials to do the job right.

BUT, if you are considering working with a non-licensed contractor you may not fully understand the risks and therefore may not do the proper background checks and end up regretting it. Having a licensed tradesman is critical because it protects all parties from anything that might go wrong during the process.
It is true unlicensed contractors have advantages that enable them to deliver a lower initial project budget. Considering they don’t pay licensing fees, generally have not purchased a bond to protect their work, and, more often than not, do not have liability or other necessary insurance. Without these added expenses, the unlicensed contractor can provide their services at a rate lower than the licensed professional, but it puts the consumer at risk.
If you hire an unlicensed contractor and he falls off a ladder while doing work at your business or house, the home owner can be liable. An unlicensed contractor will also try to cut corners on the work because they don’t have to adhere to the local building standards, so if a disaster hits, or even a severe thunderstorm, your home, one of the largest assets in your financial portfolio may be at risk.
Check with the AZ Registrar of Contractors (AZROC) and do a back ground check. The AZROC investigates consumer complaints and works to resolve them through mediation. The AZROC can also issue citations, refer the complaint to other appropriate agencies and even press criminal charges against the egregious party.

While many of these contractors are just too lazy to get their licenses, some of them are real criminals who will take your money without doing the work and even steal your property. These are organized criminals who canvas neighborhoods and business areas to lure you in with cheap prices.
While fraud may not know geographical boundaries, the good news is that specific Arizona laws have been passed to protect property owners from incompetent or dishonest contractors. The state licensing process tests basic competency and also screens out dishonest contractors. A valid license is the first indication that your contractor might be qualified to do the job.
